Dedicated to Fumie and Takahiro Yamashita The piece is based on “Yoimachigusa” by Tadasuke Ohno but I added two other themes to complete the musical idea and to give a final unity to the work. The first original theme is very lyrical and has the soul of a sad Brazilian ballad, and the second theme makes the piece move forward in the swing/jazz style. Since I was born in Brazil and now I live in the USA, and since the Yamashita’s are from Japan, this duo piece carries influence of those 3 countries. Composed in Miami on April 2008, and premiered by Fumie and Takahiro Yamashita in Tokyo.
